The Historical Commission's ultimate goal is to identify and preserve historical / significant sites and structures in Exeter Township for future generations. Take a look at the Historical map to see what history the Township has to offer. (the map is being updated, see below) Also, take a look at our Historic Photo Gallery and feel free to send more pictures over to be added to it. Contact the site admin for more info.
Exeter Township is currently undertaking an inventory of its historic resources and plans to include identified sites / structures on the Township's Historical Map. Volunteers are needed for this ambitious project. If you are interested or know of a group that would be interested in providing assistance (Boy Scouts, etc.) please contact Cheryl Franckowiak at 610-779-5702.
Man-made structures retaining their historical and architectural integrity will be evaluated for inclusion. We are looking to identify the locations of such historic structures as houses, barns, agricultural outbuildings, mills, bridges and other structures. If you have any such structures on your property, or know of a property that does, please complete the PHMC historic resource survey at www.phmc.state.pa.us/bhp/inventories/survey_card.pdf and submit it to the Exeter Township Historical Commission, Attention: Cheryl at 4975 DeMoss Road, Reading, PA 19606. If you would like assistance in completing this form, please contact Cheryl and a Commission member will be contacted and assigned to assist you.
