County and Municipal Property
On Monday, April 27th the Board of Supervisors signed a resoltution extending the flat rate period for payment of Township Property Taxes. This is consistent with changes implemented by Berks County earlier in the month. So, what does this mean exactly?

In a normal year, property tax payments made in March and April are afforded a 2% discount, payments made in May or June are considered flat period (no discount, no penalty), and any payments made after June 30th are subject to a 10% penalty.

This year under the new guidance, the payment schedule is as follows:
Payments made in March or April2% discount
Payments made May - September 30th: Flat Period (no discount/no penalty)
Payments made after September 30th: 10% penalty period

Income Tax
The IRS and the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue have extended the INCOME TAX RETURN filing and payment date from April 15th, 2020 to July 15th, 2020. The Berks Earned Income Tax Bureau is also following that same extension.

Please note, this extension applies only to your personal income taxes normally due by April 15th. There have been no changes to property tax deadlines.

Business Privilege Tax
The Exeter School District has extended the Business Privilege Tax return filing and payment deadline from April 15th to July 15th, 2020.
